Matteo Iurato

Matteo Iurato received his Bachelor's (2018) and Master's (2021) degrees in Bioengineering from the University of Genoa, Italy, with a master's thesis on the biomechanical evaluation of back-support occupational exoskeletons, carried out at the Italian Institute of Technology. After working as a software developer in industry on biomedical imaging projects, he began a joint PhD program in Neuroscience (Motor and Sport Activities track) with the REHELab at the University of Genoa and Swhard s.r.l. (Genoa, Italy). He received his PhD in 2026 with a thesis on the use of inertial sensors for shoulder rehabilitation in ecological settings. Since 2025, he has been collaborating with EXAN on projects focused on optimizing the Finite Helical Axes technique for joint motion analysis.  Currently, he is working as a software engineer on R&D projects at Swhard s.r.l. (Genoa, Italy). His research interests include biomechanics, wearable sensors, motion analysis, and rehabilitation engineering.
